Projects Brewing

I mentioned yesterday that I have had a few projects brewing lately.

It was initially a way to get out of a the little funk that I have been in - and I must say that I think it worked wonderfully - only that it had a snowball effect that is still rolling a bit.

It started with rearranging the girls' rooms. I moved Ava and Mae into the bigger room, Roo and Rosie together and into the big girls' old room, Rosie's room had been turned into an office of sorts, the playroom into Roo's old room. Chaos! The whole upstairs of our house was a complete disaster! The girls and I were dragging furniture, taking apart beds, and unearthing little dust bunnies everywhere.

Finally when the dust (literally) settled I got out the can of grey paint from the dining room and did a wall in Ava and Mae's new room.

It was getting closer to the final product, but I knew we needed something more.

I bought some vinyl, got a circle punch, a measuring tape, and then marked out the wall into 12" squares.

I took the top half and they took the bottom half sticking the marks with vinyl dots until bedtime.

In the morning it looked just like I had envisioned and cost me only $5. The girls were so in love with it they tried to convince me to dot-up all the other rooms in the house and I was so in love with it that I think I considered their idea for 10 seconds.

Next up was the 1/2 bath downstairs. Before I knew it I had taken down the mirror and was coating the wall in $7 oops paint from Home Depot - a medium grey.

Then I grabbed a plastic kid's Ikea plate and started chalking circles on the wall and painting them in - 8 circles across exactly so it was a perfect fit. :) After a while I got tired of that plate and traced it onto a cereal box and used that as a template. I scored it in half so it was easy to do the 1/2 circles on the edges.

I kinda thought I would never finish it. Especially when I decided that it all really did need a second coat to make the circles opaque and more exact. Then there was the dreaded toilet that I was going to have to maneuver around. Torture! I mean, I was basically hugging it at times to get the wall under and behind it. Haha! Bet you wish I had a picture of that!

Finally between some intense study sessions for my first Stats test this week I got it done and I totally love it (I have been caught on multiple occasions dumbly staring at it). I really want to finish off Rosie and Roo's room and do the master too, but am waiting on some inspiration on that - and for my wrist to stop aching from all those circles.

VDay 2014

Untitled

The past few months E has been crazy busy with work. He isn't home for dinner much and he often leaves before we are all up in the morning. Good thing my older girls are such tremendous helpers or there is no way any of us would get through this time alive.

Valentine's Day came and went with the rest of the chaos. We pinterest-ed up some good non-sugary Valentines for their friends and the older girls got to "dress up" for school.

I wasn't interested in going out to dinner or making a big deal of things so we all just stayed in and had homemade pizza by candlelight with sparkling cider.

The girls get all hyper when we do any kind of "special" dinner and they were really on one that night. Hopefully in the future the won't try to impress their Valentine's dates with competitions of who can make the loudest fart noises on their forearms.

The best part of the day was when Easy walked in the door while we were all waiting around the table for him. The girls whooped and hollered, kisses were given and received, and we devoured our beautiful pizza. I also loved that morning watching my girls open their special cards I made them and seeing their faces as they read my words to them. Roo had me read hers aloud to her over and over.

Feb has gotten only better since then - I have been working on projects, we have seen quite a few sunny days, and my husband has been around more and more, also I have gotten back with Yoga and my love for it is stronger than ever. I'm glad that things have turned a corner her. Namaste February. Namaste.

February Funk

Untitled

So far February has blown.

It has been freezing. Like so so so cold. Subzero temps every day and rock hard snow lingering around. This is not the CO winter that I love. We are feeling cooped and getting antsy for spring.

When the month turned our stomachs happened to turn with it. Last weekend a nasty bug set up camp in our home and took us down one by one with achy bones, wrenching, and fatigue. Easy was the only one to escape it. Superbowl Sunday was spent on the couch with big bowls in hand, a fire going, naps, and lots of liquids - it was a pretty easy game to nap through - right??? Ugh Broncos!

Cute GM had dozed off so much she was confused about the day and the time.

Not only that but a dear childhood friend pink eye has also taken residence here. It's actually a little hilarious because the girls call it THE PINK EYE!

They say, "Don't touch me or you'll get the pink eye!"

Needless to say Feb has not been a favorite so far. Oh did I mention Rosie is potty training too? Ugh.

On the brighter side lucky Miss Roo has had big sister's home to play with for a couple of days this week. On Monday they went on a Rainbow Loom frenzy and created around 20 bracelets. Right now her and Ava (who woke up with the pink eye) are coloring.

One positive is that GrAva was able to attend school on Wednesday as it was the 100th day of school. GM's class dressed as 100 year olds. I think she pulled if off pretty dang well. Lol.

Things to look forward to:

*Valentine's Day (so fun with the girls)
*Nic and Rachel's visit from Bermuda at the end of the month
*Camping in Goblin Valley during Spring Break
*Easy's birthday next month
*Getting my garden planned out
*Finishing my Stats class (yes, I just started but I'm counting down the days)
