It's just me here.

To answer all your silly and not so silly questions.

So, lets get started.

1. Do you pick your nose? Do you pick anyone else's nose? Yes. Mine and the girls'.

2. How do you stay so gosh dang skinny? I know you do yoga, but is there anything else? I wish I could give you a straight answer. Any grain in my house is 100% whole. That goes for pasta, bread, oats, brown rice. My kids don't know a difference and so it totally works. I also don't buy anything with partially-hydrogenated oil and we eat out just once a week. I try to cook everything from scratch - nothing out of a box or preseasoned/marinated. I usually make my own salad dressing and use 100% real butter. I buy/cook red meat like once every 4 months - unless we go to my parents house. I don't overeat and I try to only eat when I'm hungry. Other than all that - I really don't know.

Speaking of Yoga. I haven't been since I injured my tailbone and we moved. I'm definitely going through withdrawals.

3. What foods are your guilty pleasures? Anything that resembles a Pazookie. Mmmm.

4. What type of nurse work do you want to do when you are finished? I'm not sure yet. Right now I'm totally enthralled by wound care. I know it sound gross, but it's so so so intriguing. I also am interested in ER and L&D.

5. What's one good thing that you think you do as a mom? I don't fret or worry over them too much. I love letting them get dirty and just be kids.

6.What's one thing you want to improve on? Spending more individual quality time with them. I can't ever get enough one-on-one.

7. Name something that truly makes you smile: Giggles from the other room.

8. Name something you are really afraid of: Losing these three people that make up my life. Oh, and drowning. And not having adequate food storage.

9. How many kids do you want? 4, but every time I say that, I secretly think 5.

10. What is your middle name? Mae, after my Grandma May, but since my first name already has 2 Y's my mom insisted they spell it with an E.

11. What did you decide on the pillows + material? A little of F, B, and C. I'll have pictures when I'm done.

12. Do you see dead people? No, but I will.

13. What could you eat every day forever? Whole wheat bagels with homemade honey butter

14. Celebrity crush? Joaquin Phoenix. Tell me, who doesn't want to get into that beard? So hot! And charming! Oh my, you have to hear him rap. No wonder he'll never act again - genius!Really though, probably Johnny Depp.

15. If you were a career woman what would you be doing? Career Woman sounds so boring. So, I'd probably be doing something boring. Unless it involved tinkering on a computer. Uh oh. My inner geek is coming out, so I'm moving on...

16. Favorite thing to wear? Skinny jeans, a snug tee, and canvas shoes.

17.How did E propose (or should I say where:) sorry totally cheating....I just think it's fun: First in a bathroom on campus with a $.25 ring. Yep. I about died and was begging him to stop and not kneel on the floor. I was hysterical and kept saying, "Are you serious? No. Really? Are you serious?" Then later that day he proposed in a note. Then I think in passing. Then that night with the real thing in my car.

18. Why do you cut your own hair, and don't say it's a money thing, I want the truth, I can handle it!! :) I've watched my mom cut hair all growing up. One day I thought - Hey I can do that - and I did. Ever since then nobody has been able to do it just how I want it. So, after my hair appointments I would always alter it and then I just started doing it on my own. I think Jesica is honest with me when she does my color and says that I've done an okay job. She straightens it out every once in a while.

19. What photo editing software do you use? Photoshop Elements 4.0. I want the 6.0 version. Maybe for my birthday? Or anniversary? Or Mother's Day?

20. What did you dream of being when you were growing up? A nurse actually. My grandmother was one and I always loved seeing her in her attire. When I went to college I randomly walked through the greenhouses on campus and fell in love with horticulture and floral design. I did that for a few years and decided to go back and work on my pre-reqs for nursing school. Now I can't believe I'm actually doing it.

21. What is your favorite thing about yourself? I get stuff done. Ask me? I'll get it done. Don't ask me? I'll still get it done.

22. And your least favorite? I have this horrible habit of picking at my face, well at anything. It's awful!

23. If you could pick anywhere to live, where would it be and why?(NOT depending on jobs, either) Northern California. Not too hot or too cold and near both E and my families.

24. What's your secret for money management? (besides buying used furniture, etc.) No real secrets here. Easy is great with money. I am not. We have a deal where if something is over $20 then we have to talk about it before purchasing and we pay off our credit cards every month. Really though, we don't pay full price for anything. We are Craigslist fiends.

25. What does Eric do for you that makes you the most happy? If I ask him nicely he will always rub my back.

26. If you could change one thing about you or your life, what would it be? I would call people more often, I would not take offense, and I would be more affectionate.

27. What are your pet peeves? needing to pick other peoples noses? haha: Seriously, people need to take care of their mucous! But more importantly if you have a bluetooth, then you need to take it out when your not talking to someone and if you are talking someone please don't come down my isle in the store waving your hands around and annoyingly fluctuating the tone of your voice. Really. Don't.

Thanks guys. This was fun. Have a great weekend.

Late Night Apologies

I can probably count the number of times the girls have slept in our bed on one hand. It isn't often. They get too excited and we get too annoyed.

They tend to wiggle and roll. They do 360's and always end up kicking one of us in the face.

It's impossible to sleep next to them.

Last night as I was trying to get comfortable and doing my own rolling and shifting, I had a little epiphany...

I'm exactly like they are. I probably drive my poor husband crazy at night. I can't lay still. I'm constantly hitting my pillow. Rolling to my side. No, my belly. My back? No. My other side. That bugs my shoulder. Why does my neck hurt. My back again? I hate this pillow.

It happens every night for at least a half hour. Meanwhile Easy lies perfectly still and silent.

I'm so jealous.

Sorry Babe.

Really.

Sorry. And thanks for not throwing me out.

Spacebooking

used to have a little of a love/hate relationship with Facebook.

I don't know why, but I just wasn't that into it.

Maybe I didn't have any friends?

We've talked things out though and are cool now.

Anyway, I keep getting theses tags. You know the ones - and I think they are really fun. I love reading about all my friends' little quirks and funny habits. I mean honestly...my friends are really funny.

But I never know what to say on them. These tags. Trust me, I know I'm random and quirky, but I'm seriously at a loss.

So I'm proposing the blog post here where you ask me whatever the heck you want to know about me in a comment. Later in the week (when I've had time to think about it) I'll answer your questions.

Fun, right? Way more fun than Spacebook.

A visual list

of why I'm grateful for the proximity of this crappy new house:

Trader Joes
Costco
Whole Foods
In and Out

All are within a 1 mile radius.

We were without hot water for 3 days this weekend.
I am trying to have a good attitude.

Nothing like good trip to Target and some In and Out to lift my spirits.

Action

My father-in-law is the "go to guy" when it comes to media.

Whenever he is around there is usually a type of camera in tow. The people surrounding our outings are usually pretty curious, but we are so used to it that it doesn't even phase any more. The girls have practically grown up with a camera in their faces.

Here is the latest.

Enjoy your weekend.

Little Miss Fancy Pants

Photobucket

Things are coming together around here.

Or, they were until yesterday, when (i'm sure you can guess which one) little girl decided to plant herself on our new taupy-tanish-brown couch with a bottle of perfectly selected dark purple fingernail polish.

I assume that the sweet little thing proceeded to take off the lid and adorn herself in the trendy dark color. A splash on her new pants, a splosh on the belly, and I'm guessing that she felt pretty fancy with that dribble across her toes.

I'm sure she didn't place the bottle on it's side on purpose allowing the contents to pool on the couch. Why on earth would she do that? Why waste all this perfect purple polish on a stupid couch? I assume it was a complete accident - all in the name of primping.

Meanwhile I get a panicked, "Mommy Mommy Mommy! Sissy's got something! On the couch! Hurry!"

I run. I toss baby aside. I grab acetone. I google.

After an urgent call to my mother and a reckless trip to Target I am found scrubbing and scrubbing. Sweating. Swearing. Scrubbing:

Rubbing alcohol. Acetone.
Rubbing alcohol. Acetone.

And it comes out.

Mostly.

Now, what to do with my daughter?

it was bought at a thrift store for $19 and can seat like 8 people. okay, maybe 5 comfortably. it is known for eating all sorts of objects including barbie dolls, markers, and wedding rings.

anyway, i'm dying to put some new cushions on it, but can't decide which fabric i like best.

a post-val-post

We kinda skipped ol Valentines this year.

There was a lot going on.
Me with school and being a mom, and a wife, and moving into a new house (post-flood), and Easy has another Man Cold and is trying to pick up the slack.

We managed to sneak away Saturday night after dinner to grab a few little things at The Walmart.

Photobucket

I got some tulips. A CF Card Reader. Breyers.

E got these crazy new millkshakes which are actually pretty good.

It was so nice to just slip out, cruise around, and hold hands. We didn't have to worry about dinner reservations, ordering chocolate dipped fruit, waiting in line at the theater box office, or spending $100 on roses.

It was pretty nice to just be together.

"and the floods came up"

9 days ago we moved into a dirty old house.

We weren't too happy.

Things are much cleaner and better now, but we have had a rough first week here.

There is no way we could have made it without the help of our friends and parents. Thank you all so much!

The day after we moved in my parents had left and I came home from class to find Easy and the girls playing in the street with the new neighbors. I love coming home and seeing them all so happy. I love the hugs and kisses I am greeted with. I miss them greatly every Saturday.

When we walked in the house that we just moved into I heard an unfamiliar sound coming from the hall. Like water running, spraying, or maybe flushing. Spraying was right. The supply line was broken off from the toilet and water was gushing out the bathroom and into the hall and bedrooms. It was actually dripping out the front of the house. I ran to the front and E waded into the bathroom and cut it off at the source. We called the property manager and immediately started flipping wet boxes over in the rooms tearing into them to retrieve the contents. Wet packing paper falls off Grandma Brown's paintings and we are grateful that nothing is ruined. All has been thrown into the one bedroom that wasn't flooded. We acted on impulse. Running. Yelling. Fighting the flood. Then, when there wasn't anything left to do, we stopped and looked at each other like, "What the hell just happened?"

4 measly hours later, with our daughters snug on the couch, this dude Rico shows up to suck the water out. Yes, 4 hours later. He ended up dumping about 250 gallons from our house and left us with 2 little fans as we all hunkered down in the master for the night.

Photobucket

The next day he is supposed to show up with dehumidifiers to dry the place out but he doesn't show. We finally get in touch with the Property Manager and we are put up in a hotel for the next 4 days. Before heading to the hotel we go and binge on some tasty Mexican Food. It's nice to have a full belly after disaster strikes, but we still aren't happy. We are exhausted. Emotionally. Physically. Mentally.

Rico misses another appointment on Monday morning and my fed up husband hires a professional company to come take care of the botched job our-boy-Rico did 2 days before. Easy is determined to save us from the mold which could start to grow as soon as that afternoon.

4 days later, the 4 huge dehumidifiers and 9 fans are removed from the living room, hall, and 2 bedrooms. The carpet is cleaned and the baseboards snapped back on. We are home.

Now we can unpack.

My father-in-law and brother-in-law came to our rescue and helped straighten things out while E was at work this last week.

We built a raised vegetable garden. It was therapeutic. A little bit of a new beginning for me and my little family. I love looking out the kitchen window and seeing it and can't wait to enjoy the fruit it will bring.

I'll keep you up to date on it's progress.

This house will be better for us. Closer to work and school. A huge backyard with grass and a pool. In a sweet little cul-de-sac with lots of kids.

More to come.

Motion Sickness

Photobucket

We move on Friday.

I keep thinking that I'm going to be ready, but I doubt that.

We have too much stuff and I have a test in 2 days.

I'm grateful that my mom and dad will be here tomorrow. I need them to stabilize me during the day...to keep my brain from exploding. When E can't be here, then Mom is the next best option. Isn't that how it's supposed to work?

I don't mean to rub it in, but it was 77 degrees today. So what if we didn't win the Super Bowl. It was 77 freaking degrees in Phoenix! You can't beat that.

I tired and rambling. This is our 8th move in 6 years and I really just don't want to touch another cardboard box, find the end of my tape, smell my Sharpie, or dive into a dumpster - which is what I'll be doing tomorrow morning.

I'm to preoccupied to ask for boxes at customer service desks and have been left hanging from Craigslist ads. Last week, as I went searching for boxes I jumped into a business' recycling dumpster and there was a guy just standing in the corner smoking. I didn't notice him at first, but when I did it was incredibly awkward and startling, "Oh! Hey. I'm just was uh...uh..hmm.. looking for boxes. Yeah...I'm moving. I uh, didn't mean to disturb you." The dude didn't say a word. He just stood there and watched me dig the boxes out, one by one. Jerk. He had an extra hand and could have at least held the lid open. Guess chivalry is dead in dumpster diving.

I won't be going there again.
So, if you have extra boxes and can get them to me by Friday we'll be BFF's. Promise.
