caught in the rain

parenting the second time around is so different: i am not a hand-washing nazi, i don't keep track of mae's schedule (feeding and sleeping), and i'm not near as careful about anything.

last weekend when The Man's dad came to visit we decided to take a walk one evening. i am dying to get out of the house so i take every opportunity to do so. we took off with Blondie in the jogger and mae in her stroller. the sky was cloudy enough to cool things off just a little. i always think that the park is about a block away when in actuality it is about a mile. as blondes is swinging, sliding, climbing, and giggling, the sky appears darker and the wind kicks up and so we head home. i feel totally irresponsible to have my little (at the time) 2.5 week old out and to make it worse...in the rain. it starts to pour and mae's stroller doesn't have a full canopy and i only have a little receiving blanket to shield her. by the time we get home we are all drenched me, the man, blondie, papa, and little mae.

poor mae...this would not have happened with a first baby.

I totally understand. But Mae will survive. If anything the second time around is suppose to be more fun because we AREN'T as crazy over schedules and so on. We are suppose to be more relaxed. I feel it is more fun, but just completely different and stressful in other ways.

It's sad but true, this will not be the worst thing that will happen to little Mae. I like to think that it will make them stronger someday -or- at least that is what I am starting to tell Grace.
By the way, I like that it looks like Ava has a wedgie. Her diaper is either really full (maybe of rain water )and weighing it down that way, or she is really comfortable with it like that. Too cute!

fortunately, even though you look like you are made of sugar, you aren't. :) And... maybe Kent needed a bath?!?

We got the announcement today. She is sure a cutie!

So true about the second child thing! I let so much more go--poor girls. Someday Lucy and Mae will have to get togehter and talk about their neglected childhoods.

Quincy will join that conversation... the other morning she woke up with a cheerio stuck right to her forehead. How did i let that one get by? The second child comes with an extra layer of skin, and better reflexes to help avoid some of the attacks from the older sibling!
